French Toast Casserole

Ingredients
Stale:

  • 20 ounces of diced * sandwich bread
  • 1 cup cut into pecans
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups of whole milk
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup **
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg

Additional:

  • 4 tablespoons of salted butter slices
  • 1/2 cup of pink sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Instructions
  1. Baking pan 9 9 x13 ″.
  2. The bread cubes become 1 inch small cubes, and line them with pecans in your baking pan.
  3. Beat eggs, milk, original maple syrup, vanilla extract, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Pour the egg mixture on bread and pecans in a baking pan.
  5. Cover then chill for 4 to 6 hours or let stand overnight.
  6. When you are ready to bake the casserole, remove it from the refrigerator, and preheat the oven to 350 ° F.
  7. Meanwhile, mix the slices of butter, brown sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl.
  8. Mash or lump the topping on top of the whole casserole.
  9. Cover the pan with aluminum foil, and bake at 350 ° C for about 25 to 30 minutes. Then open and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes.
  10. After fully cooked, remove from the oven and allow to cool for several minutes.
  11. Then slice and serve with powdered sugar and maple syrup.
